Yesterday afternoon, the starter relay went out on our refrigerator. After several disappointing interactions with Sears, Home Depot, and other appliance stores, I made a Facebook post asking if anyone could help. If the part could even be ordered, itd be a week before it arrived. Immediately friends began to call, text, offer to place things in their refrigerators, loan us coolers, etc. A few people began looking at their homes to see if they had an old relay we could buy, and a couple of guys shared links to wholesale parts stores online (Sears has discontinued our part apparently). Thankfully, we can have the part on Wednesday because of one of those sites. It was evident that the Love of Christ is alive and well with the people of Walker County! This morning I received a message from a friend I had met several years ago and havent seen since. He insisted to BRING us an entire refrigerator that he wasnt using, and let us use it until my part could come in. I called him after church to get details to meet him. He not only had it loaded up, but he and his wife had driven from Kansas to Jasper with it, and was sitting at my house waiting to unload it. After my friend Ray and I unloaded it, he said, Hey--when youre done with it, just donate it to your church. He wouldnt take a dime, or even let me give him a tax-write off receipt! I met Carl Woods in an unlikely situation many years ago. I helped him out in a bad situation, and he promised to always help me if I ever needed it. Several years later, he held true to his word. So now because of this situation that started off horribly, not only have I seen the Love of Christ so selflessly in people, but the church now has a refrigerator to use when people need to stay during times of emergency or disaster. Gods people are good! My message this morning was titled, Why God allows bad things to happen to people--and how He uses that situation for His Glory! Little did I know that after church that message would come to life like I couldnt have imagined! Man, its GREAT to know that our Heavenly Father takes care of us!
