Yesterday as I was shopping at a plus size store, a young girl, maybe 14 was with her mother shopping for the girl a blouse. The girl was trying to explain that she did not like the blouse her mother was trying to get her to pick out. (I didnt like it neither) but kept to myself. ......As the mother daughter conversation continued...The mother started speaking louder...saying things that clearly will effect this child for a lifetime......like....you are just heavy...face the fact and get over yourself!!!.... I felt the tears begin to swell in my eyes, as I couldnt help but to feel compassion for the child........ words too strong for any child to hear from their role models mouth!!!! THIS IS how eating disorders begin...... It took all I had to keep my mouth shut......I wanted to help this child but knew I cant right now......but I CAN continue to work hard each n everyday to help change the lives of others and pray that when this child is older, she knows someone who my efforts each day has helped!!!! Parents watch those words.....It could be very life altering for that child.
