Yesterday, as a family, we visited old friends and helped with the still massive task of post flood debris removal in our old community of Salina, 4 mile Canyon. When I say debris, I dont just mean dirt and limbs. We are talking, 2 months post flood, and there are still homes, motorcycles, bridges, 50 year old cottonwoods etc still being unearthed.....This tireless community has been working non stop for 2 months straight..digging out there homes. I ran into an old neighbor whom i had spoken with last just days after the flood. We talked abstractly about the need to get space from all the disaster for his own inner peace...he seemed unable to grasp the concept as he himself had been dug from chest high sludge and his home remained inaccessible. 2 months later he ran up, hugging us all. We talked of all the progress and how he found a way through it all , how he had found space, peace, even stumbled into a new job along the way. He asked me over and over to look up this band and melody on the web....I did shortly after i got home last night. Its called once again aptly named as in 3 years my friend and our community of Salina have been thru wild fire and now the 100 year flood. I can;t help but hear the rhythm of flood and fire in these simple drums. So to Steve..I say Thank You for this and your incredible story of courage. youtube/watch?v=xk3BvNLeNgw
