Yesterday during a phone conversation with a suffering family member, the skies literally opened up and a steady rain fell. I sat down in front of my sliding screen window and was reminded of Metta or Loving-kindness—often described as a gentle shower that when applied to self and others, nurtures dry earth: may you be happy, healthy and strong, safe and protected, free from inner and outer harm. May you live in your world with ease and grace.
