Yesterday morning we rescued Matilde, this beautiful afro-hairstyled portuguese sheep. Their exploiters didnt want to take care of her anymore so they gave her to us. She lived alone in a small, uggly and dark storehouse and she was never allowed to go out. When she arrived to the sanctuary her eyes shone and she started to bleat and look at all the animals with enthusiasm while we were going to the quarentine area. When she saw Ramón and Wendy she started to run around trying to make them join the game. Shes got a strong personality and is dying for playing and having fun. We think we have actually rescued a Tasmania devil! As a slave, she gave birth to three babies who were stolen and murdered. But now shes in Vacaloura and nobody will stole her beloved children again because here we fight for her rights and well do everything so that shes happy. We are living in a continuous bankruptcy. We werent planning to rescue anybody else since 3 other pigs are coming next week, which means much more expenses and much more work. Buts its too hard to say no when the exploiter calls saying he doesnt want the animal anymore. If you say no you know whats going to happen, but in order to say yes we need your help. This rescue costed us around 200€ (renting the van, the journey, etc.), and now she must have a veteterinary check-up, vaccination, treating for parasites... We need you!
