Yesterday, my husband and I filed for a divorce. Please dont say - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, my husband and I filed for a divorce. Please dont say sorry, because it was a mutual decision, and I think in the end, a positive one. Over two years of dating and almost five years of marriage, we have fallen more into the roles of best friends rather than husband and wife. Yes, we had ups and downs, but ultimately that shift in our dynamic was what resulted in the decision. This is not going to be an ugly court battle over who owns what or anything like that. Neither of us have any intention of screwing over the other, and we plan to remain very close friends through the process and after the divorce. Well still call, text, and hang out for what I hope will be the rest of our lives, because theres no animosity in this. As far as friendships are concerned, neither of us would wish for our friends to pick sides. I sincerely hope that the friends Ive met through him (Luke, Craig, Chris, Daniel, etc.) will want to maintain a friendship with me, as I have come to love you all very much over the years. And I urge my friends (Sara, Norris, Tony, Cameron, etc.) not to feel an obligation to choose my side and reject him as a friend, as I know he cares a lot for you too. In the end, Ill still be around at the drunken Rockband parties, doing stupid stuff that probably involve my boobs. And he, along with all of our friends, will still be invited to my place for cards against humanity and non-paleo chicken wings. Usually a divorce is thought of as a painful or angry thing. But for us, as much as I love him and always will, its a productive step forward that we both want and need in order to make ourselves and each other happier.
