Yesterday, one of our own, Charles Macdonald (Guitarist), got to play live with The Shires on the The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 where he also met Mark Ronson! Listen here from about 2:00 hours onwards: bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04x0llw Three final year students from the RNCM’s Popular Music degree programme successfully auditioned to form the rhythm section for the recent UK tour by country pop duo The Shires. Charles MacDonald (guitar), Ollie Harding Music (drums) and Harry Gumery (bass) joined the group for a month long tour in November. The Shires, signed to Decca Records in the UK and to Universal Music Group Nashville in the US, are the first UK country act to be signed to a major Nashville label. The RNCM’s Head of Popular Music Andy Stott said “I’m delighted that three of our final year students have secured this professional contract, not only because it will be great experience for them, but because it’s important for us that artist managers and record companies know that the RNCM produces the most talented and well-trained young musicians in the UK. I’m sure they will have done professional job and have been a great advert for the quality of the work we do here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please like our pages: Royal Northern College of Music Popular Music and Royal Northern College of Music Session Orchestra #rncmsessionorch #rncm #rncmlive #rncmvoice #rncmpopmusic #rncmsu #theshires #markronson
