Yesterday our day was a bit different, but in a good way. We started out with our usual route and met some wonderful new clients who were so grateful for the help. One client suggested another building that has some seniors that have cats. She thought they could benefit from a delivery such as ours, and appreciate a bit of support since some of them are immobile. We will definitely be looking into helping and seeing how we can incorporate this building into our monthly schedule. We also all need to remember that seniors with pets sometimes need a bit more support. It can be challenging scooping a litter box, taking a dog for quick potty break, or having a pet properly groomed so their nails and coat are comfortable. If you know of a senior that could use help with this and you are in a position to offer such help, please do, the people and their pets will be thankful. Along our route we dropped off some needed cans of dog food to Oppenheimer Park and then swung by WISH Drop-In Centre Society (a support program) to provide some bunny food for someone who reached out for help (this was graciously donated by Rabbitats). We were also on the receiving end yesterday, as the Evelyne Saller Center had collected donations during the Christmas season for us. Pet food, treats, jackets, toys and a monetary donation as well as other necessities. We were so pleasantly surprised with the generosity of so many. Our day was a success, the fog parted and we met many new, and welcomed many regular, faces. What a wonderful way to start the new year!
