Yesterday really got me discouraged... We brought three horses and four riders to a show that we all love attending great clean grounds and wonderful staff all of the horses have improved since their last show much more relaxed with the environment smooth gates and fantastic rides yet were continuing to be out pinned by forward western horses or riders who were jerking their horses mouths... I thought these shows were meant to teach young riders how to improve not punish them for having soft hands and fluid gates... When the judge was confronted at the end of the day by the girls asking what he wanted to see them improve he told them that a saddlebred should have a low headset... And that he is a quarter horse judge. Im sorry I was very saddened by this answer and thought it was quite unprofessional. When a person is judging an open show he must judge the classes based on the horses and their discipline not his preferred breed or style of riding... Im just very pleased the girls had a whatever attitude about his feedback and still were happy with their rides for the day..
