Yesterday, the Governor signed HB 5 into law, a bill I co-authored - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, the Governor signed HB 5 into law, a bill I co-authored which significantly reduces the number of high-stakes testing students must take. I also offered several amendments to improve the bill when the House initially passed it in March that remained in the final version. One amendment would give special ed teachers more time to spend one-on-one with their students rather than prepping for tests. Another would clear up potential conflicts of interest occurring within our assessment system by prohibiting individuals connected with, or paid by, assessment vendors, from serving on any assessment advisory committees. Finally, I offered an amendment which provides dual credit for career and tech students to put towards an associate degree or a licensing certification. texastribune.org/2013/06/10/gov-perry-signs-high-school-curriculum-testing-bil/
