Yesterday @ the Paul Robeson Campus in Mott Haven, Bronx, students and staff were evacuated due 2 a fire on the 4th floor. While over 1000 students n staff were outside on the sidewalks 4 approx 45 min, Firefighters from Engine 60 decided 2 enter into Western Beef 2 go grocery shopping rather than enter the school- at the dismay of teachers n students, some as young as 6 yrs old who sat on the sidewalks during their lunchtime! We teach our children 2 respect our Community Helpers, but what message did the FDNY send as they walked past our students? Im disappointed n disgusted. As a Civil Servant, we have a responsibility 2 the communities we serve, especially while in uniform. Shame on Engine 60!
