Yesterday the eye doc prescribed me an eye drop to help with the iritis. Pharmacy did not have the drug and a few others we checked with did not have it either. I called doc today asked for an alternative med and they said they would call it in to our pharmacy. Doctor called and said the pharmacy did not have the alternative drug choices, but, they had the original drug except in a different quantity and strength, but to go ahead and use it and increase the dose if the strength was not sufficient to keep my eye dilated. She told pharmacy to fill it. I called pharmacy this afternoon to see if ready. No, there was a problem with my insurance covering the drug and would cost me $98. I said go ahead and fill it, cause I need it to prevent scarring of my iris (which can lead to blindness). So they said they would, verifying with me that they had the medication. I go tonight to pick it up, pharmacy said they did not have drug. I asked to speak to the manager. Pharmacist came down. I explained calmly that I have tried for 24 hours to get this drug filled and keep being told, they have it, and then when I come to pick it up....they dont have it and that I was very frustrated that its been 24 hrs and The Rx is still not filled. The pharmacist said she was frustrated too and that I probably was not aware that she has worked a very long shift today and she was exhausted! She took me to their drop off window and handed this over to another person and said, I cant deal with this any more. The other pharmacy tech checked the computer, explained they had it in a different quantity, and said ins would not pay. I told them I would pay since I needed it and he went to the shelf, got the eye drop and filled the prescription. I will be transferring to another pharmacy.
