Yesterday was another dark day in the annals of our history as a nation, as scores of young Nigerians lost their lives, ironically, in a quest to better their lots. More annoying and worrisome,is Abba Moros assertion that the youth are to blame for what befell them. Pray, tell Mr minister, how a response to your ministrys call for recruits at a time of unparalleled unemployment could go unheeded? Were they also responsible for the crass ineptitude displayed by your staff Nationwide? Did this job seeking population ask you not to conduct this screening in batches, considering the huge numbers involved? Your statement smacks of gross disrespect for the lives lost and for the teeming youth who make up a large base of those who determine the political fortunes of your pay masters. One only hopes that when the time comes, they will turn out in greater numbers and reject all those who have played a part in stifling the youth.
