Yesterday was goodbye to Evey the dog. We went to the animal hospital, and she was sitting up with tail wagging in the oxygenated crate when I left. She took a turn for the worse an hour later and slipped away 10 minutes after wagging her tail for the vet. Not a bad way to go: 84 (in dog years), one acute problem and drifting away quickly. I can tell already that mornings will be hard without her. We would snuggle for a few minutes before getting ready for the day. My little reading buddy and nap companion will be missed.
