Yesterday was my 1 year fb birthday (yay!). A lot of people asked me yesterday how they can donate to me to thank me for the recipes etc. That is very kind but I could never accept. If you are feeling generous this beautiful family are fundraising for a kitchen for their Mum Julie. Julies daughter Sue has been a great help behind the TRTLMT scenes, encouraging me and offering assistance wherever she can. She is a wealth of knowledge. I could never return the favour but I hope this will help in some way. Every dollar helps. This is Julies Story: Hi there, Julie (my mum) has had a rough couple of years and we have been extremely fortunate to be offered a brand new, custom built kitchen, at cost, for her tiny little space. Why does Julie need a kitchen? She lives in a teensie, tiny country town called Kilkivan that was devastated in the 2011 floods - losing everything she owns apart from a few special photo albums and personal belongings. She was getting back on track when in 2012 - she was hit again with another flood, without warning, and lost her mum to cancer shortly after (and all her mums treasured belongings). Being the stong-willed, determined, country woman she is, she set about obtaining a licenced owner-builder qualification and registration ( at nearly 60! - who does that?) With a meagre insurance payout (as in wouldnt even buy you a new car) she began rebuilding her little shed up on stilts with the help of some fabulous friends and family. All was slowly coming together and then August 27 2013 - her world came crashing down. It was the day before her birthday and was being rushed to hospital by ambulance suffering a double heart attack. She was soon to find out her lifelong friend and more recently partner, took his life. Despite all of this, Julie continues to battle on the best she can with what she has. She is only just now at a point close to having somewhere to live again and we are trying to raise funds to get the kitchen cost covered so we can have it installed. We would like to publically thank Kitchen Doctor GP for the VERY kind offer and support. So effectively, Julie hasnt had a proper home since early 2011 and we hope that you might be able to help Julie back into her home finally. Thank you so much for your support! gofundme/julie-kitchen
