Yesterday was one our saddest days, as we had to put our sweet - TopicsExpress

Yesterday was one our saddest days, as we had to put our sweet Josh to sleep. We rescued Josh from the pound in March 2014 when his time was up. He entered the pound in poor condition as a stray in October 2013. He had bad teeth, ear infection, skin issues and a history of blood in his urine. The pound volunteers loved Josh and kept on networking to find someone to save his life. When they reached out to Forte, we couldnt let him just die after having lived such a rough life. When we took him to our vet, she lovingly said, Aww, hes a medical mess. Luckily we had a foster who was ready to take Josh. Finally he could sleep on a warm soft bed and play around with his canine brother Meatball. Josh didnt know this was a foster home — for him it was his forever home! It was a home any dog could ever dream of: He had the time of his life with his foster mom, dad and Meatball, even with a huge yard to play and run. A few months ago, we were just saying that he had cleaned up so well and was no longer a medical mess. Ironically, a few days later, Dr. Davis from the Veterinary Cancer Group at City of Angels brought us the bad news: Josh was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We knew his days were numbered, but we didnt know that it would come so soon. He passed away peacefully in the arms of his foster mom April, our founder and his ambassador/volunteer. We cannot thank April enough for her love and care shes given to Josh. Thanks to her, Josh had a chance to know, and enjoy, what its like to be loved and have a family. When we asked April if he could stay with her as his status had changed from fostering to hospice care which could go on for a year, she said with tears in her eyes, Of course … I insist … theres no other way. RIP, Josh …we will miss you and cherish you in our hearts forever…
