Yesterday was our schools core value awards ceremony where each teacher selects their student of the month. I got up and read my award for a young lady that truly deserved it. When she came up to get her award, I put my hand out to shake her hand and congratulate her. Instead, she pushed my hand away and gave me a giant hug. She was so happy to get the award. Her face was beaming and she was so proud. It made my heart melt like a Popsicle on the 4th of July... She worked hard for it, and watching her face I thought to myself, this is why I do what I do. I love my job.
