Yesterday was the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War Battle of New Market. Mark Hankins of Bacons Castle participated in the Battle as a member of the Core of Cadets from the Virginia Military Institute. Hankins was a private in Company B who returned to studies after the Battle and graduated part of the Class of 1867. A film depicting this event is Field of Lost Shoes.
