Yesterday was the final day of our participation in D-Day 70th - TopicsExpress

Yesterday was the final day of our participation in D-Day 70th anniversary events, and Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Europe Davenport and I are truly proud to have had this once in a lifetime opportunity to walk this hallowed ground and talk with veterans who helped liberate a continent 70 years ago. In the morning we observed the 173rd Airborne Brigade commander, Colonel Mike Foster, and local officials commemorate the fallen in a private ceremony at Bois du Limors honoring the memory of a downed aircraft of paratroopers and crew. Later, we spoke with U.S. Jumpmasters as they oversaw pre-jump training for the multinational airborne drop that will take place today near St Mere Eglise. In the evening I had the honor of speaking in Graignes and laying a wreath in honor of fallen heroes who lost their lives defending the town.
