Yesterday was the first time in over a month that I have seen my Sandy girl smile. She got to go for a ride with Mommy on a beautiful day! Window was down, radio was up, and all was well...she was so happy to be out of the house since she has been on strict bed rest for over two months now. I was taking her to a Doctors appointment because she needed a follow up on an injury she got back in January that hasnt healed. The swelling in her wrist is so bad and has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. What was the size of a golf ball is now the size of a baseball. I was told that there is a good chance my baby has cancer. What we thought was a bad sprain is actually a fracture and the x-ray showed very evident signs of Osteosarcoma, a very common bone tumor found in dogs. Because tumorous bone is not as strong as normal bone, they can break very easily with minor injury, which is what happened to Sandy. If she didnt get injured, we probably wouldnt have known there was anything wrong until it was too late but because she had obvious pain and swelling, we brought her in which lead to the finding and most likely the diagnosis of a bone tumor. She has a biopsy on Monday morning and we will find out more about what our treatment options are. Please keep my baby girl in your thoughts and send good vibes our way! Sandy is very strong and I know she will help us stay strong, too! We are willing to do whatever it takes to keep her comfortable and happy. This isnt the end. Prayers for Sandy! XOXO
