Yesterday, we spent Christmas morning viewing Columbia with our kids, and then visiting my parents and Broome grandparents all at my grandparents house. While viewing the damage, my husbands reply is, I dont feel like eating or opening one single gift today. I need to be helping these people! I may not have any money or anything else to offer, but I will go and knock on door after door and just tell them I have a chainsaw and a strong back, so what can I do to help you? So after the long discusion at grandmothers, he, my dad and uncle tony Broome have loaded all my dads construction equipment and left out by daylight this morning. Makes me swell up with thanksgiving! I wish I could be there too! Brian will not like this post bc he is very private, but he makes me thankful to be his wife, despite the rough patches we have both had. I know everyone has their own talents and good characteristics, but the one I think stands out so much with Brian is his good Samaritan way. Everybody has flaws as well, and I am not one to try to put my loved ones on a pedestal as tho they are better than anyone, but Ive NEVER met anyone who gives of himself anymore than Brian. Hes just one of many good men in this world, I know, but hes mine to brag on lol. Ive seen him stop on roads MANY times and stay forever to help them, take people places, fix things or go out of his way for complete strangers, take less fortunate people in, work long hours for people, etc. He is a very loyal friend, employer and bossman, and employee to his bosses higher than him. The way he treats the guys who work under him amazes me. Anyone who knows him for very long or has worked with him the last 15 years at MDOT, has or will soon find that out. And I truly believe God has blessed him for it! And in my eyes theres not much he cant do or fix, especially electronics!! And if he cant do it, he will read and research and figure it out bf the sun goes down or bf he ever gives up! He just drops everything for people, friends and family. Lol. He puts himself out all the time for others, without ever hesitating. And then Ive also seen him get wronged and hurt so many times. I would ask him how he does it and just keep his attitude. He just replies, I dont need anyone to help me and I dont need anything. God has blessed us so much and I have nothing to complain about. All I can hope is maybe when I get to heaven that God is happy with what I did for him in what he blessed me with, if I never have any other reward in heaven. It amazes me. Hes very independent, never expecting anything or handouts from anyone. Im not trying to make him sound bigger than he really is, but it makes me thankful to see how many people he has helped voluntarily. It has even become a joke with me and the kids when we see someone stopped on the road or in a bind somewhere. They will holler, oh no, dont let him see it or we will be here forever! Especially if we are headed on vacation lol. Like I said, everyone has their problems or flaws, but I never worry one second about the kids and I being taken care of! Thats a lot to be thankful for! Linda Broom you have to be a thankful mom!!
