Yesterday we tested our modified box squat(pause squat) This type of squat gives us a lot of information in regards to access of high threshold motor units and power. The athlete brings the weight down to somewhere between a 75 and 80 degree squat. Degree of angle was predetermined from prior test. Again it is with in their optimal power generating rang of motion. The athlete then pauses one second and then presses the weight up as explosively as possible. No stretch shortening cycle or momentum used. Pure power production. This is Alexis Gutierrez pause squatting 285 pounds!!! We will post all the athletes that were able to pause squat 275 pounds and higher. Many boys can not do this type of weight with a pause squat. These are some amazing accomplishments! Some of the athletes we stopped early. For example Allysha Davis can do MUCH more that 315. But we didnt want to risk putting to much pressure on her lower back. We are so extremely proud of these girls. It makes our jobs PERFECT!!! Thank you for supporting the program and trusting us.
