Yesterday we were enjoying our lunch at a local restaurant when two police officers took seats at the table next to us. I discreetly asked the waitress to bring me their checks, which I gladly paid. On the way out, we made sure they knew how much we appreciate what they do for us on a daily basis. By chance, I ran into their captain at an event last night, and he thanked me for my gesture toward his officers. He went on to explain that law enforcement agencies everywhere are feeling pretty abused as a result of the events in Ferguson. He specifically said, it feels like everybody hates us. While theres nothing I can do about the fact that there are those in this world who will look for any opportunity to misbehave, show their ignorance, and embarrass themselves, I CAN take every opportunity to let our police community know that their calling... the way they lay their lives on the line for all of us every day by upholding and enforcing our laws, is the fabric that holds this great country of ours together, earning them the respect and support of the overwhelming majority of law abiding Americans. May God bless all of our first responders each and every day.
