Yesterday, when I had a moment, I looked through the threads and saw a post by Opeyemi Agbaje that went: INFLAMMATORY utterances by certain key politicians after Goodluck Jonathan won the last presidential election in 2011 sparked off hatred for his administration by their followers, while setting in motion the onslaught by the insurgents, who started demanding President Jonathan’s ouster as bargain not to cripple the system. This much was explained in a statement on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, following reactions to the party’s allegation on Monday after the blasts at Nyanya bus park in Abuja. While I was aware that he was not the Author, I read through the comments and was amazed at some of them. This prompted me to add my own comment that went as thus; Femi Animashaun I wonder how much it costs nowadays to sell ones own soul? Smh.... Like · Thursday at 7:06pm I noticed that Mr. Agbaje sent me a message in my inbox afterwards, but I was on my mobile phone and busy, so I couldnt even read the message until this morning. His message went thus; Friday 1:02pm Mr Animashaun: I just saw your post on my page. can you explain what you meant by that post, please? Surprisingly, the response box was missing, and was unable to reply to his message. Then dawned on me that he had removed me from his friends list and blocked me. This was surprising, because I respect Opeyemi Agbaje highly, despite not in agreement with some of his posts and some of his politics. Even though we differ in some opinion, I wonder how he could have such a knee-jerk reaction. I then realized that he must have thought that my post on his thread was pointing fingers at him. The only thing left for me to say here is that a Public figure should not be quick to react to things that have not been clarified yet. A public figure as he claims must be gentle in countenance, and patient. He must have self restraint, and not allow a perception that his approach to public interactions should be My way or hit the highway. We are very aware of many people who have been mobilized by the current government to bamboozle and act as Internet media agents. We are aware that they apply all kinds of spin-work to current events in support of their client/paymaster. Yes, it is a job for them, and they should keep that in perspective but not allow this to create suspicion, apprehension, or hatred against them, and their value systems. I have neither categorized Opeyemi Agbaje as one of these, nor was I unaware that he was not the Author of the post, which makes me find his reaction bewildering. Leadership is earned only when it is properly tested by discerning minds. It is not an award given by the government that can be imposed on the people. It is cultivated first by vision, patience, love and many others. I must say that I am highly disappointed at this disillusioning experience. I wish Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje the very best in his endeavors. PEACE!!!
