Yesterday, while teaching at the shelter for undocumented youth, the supervisor of the program admitted to me that he has noticed the lasting effects of our class on the behavior of the boys who are housed there. He spoke to me about the trauma that the boys have experienced and went into great detail about how this practice has given the teens a safe place to be. It was a touching conversation.
