Yesterday with my spectrum kiddo on the ride home from school. - TopicsExpress

Yesterday with my spectrum kiddo on the ride home from school. Once again, I am gobsmacked. Mom: How was your day? My boy: Good. We had a speaker today. It was good. He was even kind of funny. Mom: What was it about? My boy: He spoke about bullying. He was even bullied as a kid. He asked us to raise our hands if wed been bullied. (Now, as mom, I think...wow, thats a timely topic since weve had three incidences this first quarter of the school year.) Mom: Did you raise your hand? My boy: No. Mom: Did your friends? My boy: Yeah. Mom: Did some of the raised hands surprise you? My boy: Yeah. Mom: But you didnt raise your hand? My boy: No. Mom: Because you were embarrassed or because you just didnt feel like it? My boy: Well I didnt raise my hand because Ive never been bullied. And this is one of the many reasons I just adore this boy. No matter what the other boy has done, my boy doesnt see himself as a victim. he also doesnt dwell on the drama or lose himself in it. He moves on. He just sees it as part of kids figuring out how to get along and learning to be better people and moving on without grudges or fear. I learn so much from him every. single. day. So blessed and thankful for HIS perspective
