Yesterdays UN press conference with the DPRK: Last February, between the north and south of Korea, high-level talks have been held successfully. ... This move, though a minor step, was significant in that... it gave rise to greater expectations... towards wide open dialogue, easing of tensions, ... and the reunification of the entire country. ... The international community expressed welcome, sharing pleasure with the Korean nation at its success. But on the other hand, regrettably, only the United States did not share this pleasure. They did not respect this positive move. Rather, it [the US] did not hesitate in provoking the DPRK by opening gunfire in joint military drills on the Korean peninsula. At the same time, the United States is hell-bent on [blaming] wide-spread, so-called provocations of someone else, in order to escape the responsibility of escalating tensions on the peninsula.
