Yet another indigenous school girl raped by Bengali Muslim settlers in CHT Rangamati, 24 March 2014 Yet an indigenous girl of class IV standard was rape by a Bengali Muslim settler Mohammad Belal Hussain, a labor working in a brick-field, yesterday at Tarabuniya in the Rangamati Hill District while she was returning from school to her home as usual. The accused left his victim unconscious at a nearby jungle after raping her. As she was getting late in returning home from school, her parents started inquiring her whereabouts and found her unconscious at the jungle. On gaining back her consciousness, the victim revealed the name of the accused. Indigenous villagers caught him up and handed him over to Kaokhali police station. Mother of the victim got a case registered against Muhammad Hussain in the police station. The victim is undergoing a medical treatment at Kaokhali Hospital. Local ruling Bengali Muslim leaders were reported to have been trying to suppress the case. It may be mentioned on 22 March 2014, Bengali Muslim settlers belonging to Jama-E-Islam student wing tried to abduct and rape an indigenous school girl studying in class IX standard in this area. On 21 December 2012, Bengali Muslim settlers abducted, gang raped and murdered Tumaching Marma (14), an indigenous girl of class VIII standard of this area, Kaokhali. The administration has not yet taken any action on the accused of Sabita Chakma (30) gang rape and murder done on 15 February 2014. An enquiry report on the case has acquitted the accused Bengali Muslim settlers.
