Yet another study confusing matters for lay people even more. Reading this one believes the way to go is to diet drastically and lose weight rapidly. Looking at it more carefully, we find the follow up has not been for very long in these participants. Neither risk is it indicated whether they exercised or not. Rapid weight loss is ok in very obese people and initial weight loss tends to be rapid with small lifestyle changes in such people. Subsequently what happens is the question. How do you keep the weight of? What changes do you monitor? What diet do you follow? Rapid weight loss is very difficult however in those who are already fit, exercising and wanting to lose those last few kilos however. Their approach needs to be very different.
