The Crop Hunger Walk(s) are the largest fund raising event(s) for Church World Service. Sign-in is at 1:15 pm and the walk begins at 2:00 pm. Contact Millie Hein to walk, rock and/or donate and for more details. ~ ~ ~ Sermon Notes from Pastor Clint: Why Church? (Week 2) 1. Church is a place of spiritual growth. Acts 2:42 a. Learning and Teaching each other. b. Fellowship – build relationships. c. Membership, Luke noted that they shared meals and broke bread together. d. Prayer, for yours and other’s needs. What are your needs that we the church can pray for? Sometimes, those who are not in church need to see that God’s working in someone else’s life to believe that he will work in their life. e. As a body of believers, spiritual growth happens. Spiritual growth don’t happen in isolation; when you shut yourself out of the community of the church and don’t participate in the church. It takes a community and a village to grow us. 2. Church is a place to be loved. 1 John 4:11 a. A simple but difficult truth: We are commanded to love one another. There are people out there that need to be loved and the church is the place to receive that love. b. When we live in God, we love those around us. The church exists for those who do not love/know Jesus yet. Our love for others is growing also. c. We all could use a little bit more love. A little bit more love from God and forgiveness that comes from Jesus. d. True love is more than a feeling, it is a constant attitude. 3. Church is Gods will for all believers. Hebrews 10:25 a. We are to encourage one another. b. We are here to be support for one another. c. We are to be a body of believers for one another. d. A Christian should want church and remove the obstacles and actively worship with the congregation and in turn will find the love of Jesus and one day be able to be the same encourager you were to them. 4. Church is a place for salvation. 1 Cor. 12:27 a. Outside the church doors - people outside of the church will go to hell b. The world is filled with sin & destruction. c. It is our job to find these people and bring them to Jesus. d. We have a job and it’s never finished.
