Yknow... revolutionaries in 18th century Europe, the slaves in the fields who sang their souls out in the early 20th century, the blues artists in the 20s - 30s, the travelling workers in the 30s during the recession, the beat poets in the 50s, the civil rights movements in the 60s... all the lights of an era sprang forth from the deepest darkness. So if you find yourself in a place (usually working in a bar or cafe or restaurant much like everyone else appears to be right now) where youre trampled on and demoralised, know that within you is the power to inform a period in time. Know that you are the vessel for history. Know that you are part of a generation already dismissed as lost... but like many before you, you can be a symbol of human resilience and imagination. You can be a protagonist in a great and inspiring story. You ARE the big narrative, and you must carry that responsibility with pride. Chin up, shoulders back. Rant over, Im away to bed.
