Yo yo. I have received several dozen messages asking why I removed the ability to comment on my posts to some but not all. One lady, in fact, just called me an arrogant suck face. Which is, of course, true but not, I think, a condition exemplified by my decision to remove follower comments. The reason that some people can comment is that this is a personal Facebook page and not a fan page because I naturally and rightly suppose that I do not have any fans.I just never turned the follower option off when Zuck offered it and now I have a few people following who like to hate-read me. As such, the only comments you generally see are from people I know IRL and have digitally befriended. The reason that I removed comments for all is that I was receiving a good deal of anti-Muslim idiocy on my posts from people I didnt know, many of whom dont actually follow me but apparently scour the internet for places in which to crap from their rectal brains,and I have no wish to provide a forum for this kind of nonsense. Anyhow. Ive turned comments on for this post so you can knock yourselves out one final time before I shut off the follow option and return to a Facebook experience that is largely full of my IRL friends news on their gardens, Because there are a number of douches. Get the hell out of my inbox. Look. I understand I am particularly gifted at pissing people off but I just dont need vile messages from babies whining that they cant say mean things to me specifically or generally racist things publicly. I am not comfortable migrating my thoughts to a fan page where I would probably just see more tedious crap from a minority of arseholes anyhow. I am sure that the removal of my public posts is no great loss to many. But, I would like you to consider that this now overwhelming entitlement to be an idiot who publicly airs their idiocy and has no desire to remediate their idiocy by actually thinking before posting IS DUMB. And that it shuts up many people who may provoke valuable discussion. It is not just that your stupidity and your racism and your failure to use spell-check troubles me personally. It is not that I disdain trolls. It is more that I see this opinion and disdain unfiltered by thought as a very broad social ill and I want no part of encouraging it. THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS and why you cant comment on my posts and why you will no longer see me in your feed. Because some of you never think before hitting send or post. And you take this approach to all public discourse. And the world is groaning under the weight of such intellectual indolence. Buy my book anyhow, you shitters.
