Yoe SWAT Fans! Day 2 for Hostage Rescue (HR) class 10-14. I was on the way to the classroom before 0600 hrs. By 0745 hrs. we were knocking out the Debriefing on the students homework assignment. This is a Tactical Planning Scenario (TPS) on the 3D game board. Over this course of study the problem - a hostage situation at the mayors house involving bad guys, the mayor and his family - keeps evolving and escalating. Hence, the plans keep changing each day. Next thing were lectures on Downed Patrol Officer Recovery (inside a call location), bus assaults - front and rear doors and operational planning. Then lunch. Once outside, we immediately started working on our HR tactics & techniques that we missed yesterday: Seated hostage with 1bad guy with gun, standing hostage with 1 bad guy holding gun to hostage head and hostage with 3 hostage takers . This caught us up on the itinerary. At the end of the day we touched on the SAS Snake clearing method. Todays techniqes also involved obstacles (boxes) the represent furniture. With run thru the obstacles were changed up ss were the positions and locations of the hostages & bad guys. Once again, it was still an outstand day of training. Stay Safe! Mike.
