You Can Now Send Money via Snapchat (#socialmedia info) Snapchat has introduced Snapcash, an easy way to send money via the app. Don’t worry, your money won’t disappear; the messaging app has partnered with Square Cash to handle the goods. Square, Jack Dorsey’s mobile payments company, stores all the personal financial information, so the data is never on Snapchat’s servers. The new service is easy to use: After saving a debit card or bank information, users simply type in a dollar amount in a private message. A little green cash button appears — with a tap, the cash is sent. “[Its] our first product created in partnership with another company,” read Snapchat’s blog post announcing the news. “We built a Snapcash prototype and shared it with the team at Square. Luckily for us, they were just as excited as we were and wanted to build it together.” It’s also the first time Square has offered its services through another app — the partnership will be beneficial for the payments startup in terms of user acquisition. Recode reports that when a user signs up to use Snapcash, they are automatically signed-up for Square Cash and agree to Square’s terms of service. The feature is currently only available to Snapchatters 18 and over in the U.S. New Career Opportunities Daily: The best jobs in media.
