You Can Overcome Your Barriers This burdensome task God has given to the sons of man Eccl.1:12-15 From the powers of observation, judgment, and the knowledge acquired thereby, King Solomon embarked on searching out what has been a problem to us all, what all creation (Rom. 8) groans under – to find out all that was to be known concerning all things that are done under heaven -- and this he did by using all the wisdom and sagacity, the light and strength of reason, and all those bright natural parts, which God had given him in a very extraordinary manner. And his inquiry was very extensive into the nature of all things, animate and inanimate; trees, herbs, plants, fossils, minerals, and metals; beasts, birds, fish, and all creeping things(1Kg. 4:33); with everything else in nature: he sought to make himself master of all arts and sciences; to get knowledge of all trades and manufactures; to understand everything in politics, relating to kingdoms and states, and the government of them; to observe all the actions of men, wise and foolish, that he might know the difference, and be a judge of what was right and wrong. Solomon did all this laborious enquiries into, and speculations about, the works of men and found by experience that it was a heavy task that God had put upon the children of men – to humble them (John Gill’s). Solomon lamented his frustration that, even as king, he could not accomplish everything, correct all the problems, and meet all the needs he saw. That should be a message to our generation as it was important to Solomon’s: that we have no capacity to fix all the problems of this life; at times we lack the knowledge, the energy, the time, orother resources. We can only fulfilour individual roles and responsibilities at a time! Therefore, do not ever worry about what you can change and what you cannot change! My declaration: I relief myself from the burden of worry.
