You Can Stand Out Yes, you can stand out despite the untold - TopicsExpress

You Can Stand Out Yes, you can stand out despite the untold compromise and corruption of the present time! Really, it’s awesome being alive at this time and I’m so excited about this! There is no better time to live and make inalienable marks in the world than now. There has never been any time in human history that the light we carry, as children of light, was in high demand as in the time in which we are privileged to live. Do you know why I am so excited that I am alive today? It’s because the darker the night, the brighter the light shines no matter the size and intensity. Light is irrelevant in the absence of darkness! So, the present darkness enraptured world makes the need for light ineffaceable. So, the world needs me! It’s in critical need of you, too! You can’t afford to let the world down. No wonder God spoke to His light-bearing children, through the prophet Isaiah to: Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising (Isaiah 60: 1-3) Honestly, friend, it has never been this easy to stand out! Unfortunately, there is a general false assumption that to get ahead or make any meaningful impact or succeed in this present world, one must conform to the sinful practices of the world, “if you can’t beat them, join them”, they say. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Believe me, ‘beating them’, which means to stand out, has never been this easy! If standing out were not possible, God would not have commanded believers to “arise, shine….for darkness covers the earth and gross darkness the people”. The Holy Bible is replete with accounts of many godly men and women who never sold their souls to the devil and yet made inalienable marks in their generations. They stood out distinctly in corrupt and darkness enmeshed societies of their times. That act qualified them as people worthy of our emulation. One of such outstanding personalities was Daniel, a man who earned pre-eminence and power in his lifetime, despite the fact that he lived in a strange land under very challenging/daunting conditions. This book is all about beaming the searchlight on Daniel’s life with the sole aim of borrowing a leaf from him about living an outstanding life in a world of compromise. Also, in our post-modern world, there are many believers making indelible marks in their various chosen fields of human endeavours like the Daniel of old. They are models of the fact that it is absolutely possible to succeed in the affairs of this life without compromising your beliefs as a child of God. It is possible, even here, even now! Take a look at this brief summary of Daniel’s exploit in the land of captivity: a) He started out preeminent, highly distinguished among the children of Israel ( a prince, highly placed in society) Dan. 1:3-6 b) He gained pre-eminence among the wisest of men in Babylon, through an ardent commitment to godly values, ideals and principles – Dan. 1:17-20 c) He was given power over all the provinces under the Babylonian empire where he demonstrated an untainted integrity and competence – Dan 2:48-49; 5:29 d) He received similar power over the Medo-Persian Empire, because of his uncompromising stand for righteousness – Dan. 6:1-3, 28. e) He served and outlived four different Medo-Persian kings (Nebuchadnezzar, Beltezazzar, Darius and Cyrus) If Daniel did it, you can do it too. Yes, you can! You can be a model of uncompromising commitment to godly ideals, values and principles in a generation full of lawlessness, corruption and decadence. It can happen…even here, even now. God can find in you a man or woman He can boast of, as He did of Job, And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Job 1:8 God is in constant look out for such men today, in order to make Himself strong on their behalf and help them accomplish great things to the glory of His name. For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. II Chronicles 16:9 The earnest expectation of the whole world is for the manifestation of the children of light who will know their God so well that they will be strong to lead the nations out of darkness into His marvellous light. You can be a part of that army of light carriers the world is looking for. Daniel did it in a strange land. Joseph did it in Egypt. You can do it. How was Daniel able to reach these enviable positions of power and influence without compromising his position as a godly man? Let’s take a closer look at the book of Daniel to glean the secrets of his success and learn how we too can succeed and stand out in the midst of the darkness of our present world. However, we must first and foremost try to understand what it really means to stand out. That’s the starting point. Please turn with me to the next page as we examine what it means and why it must become a reality in our lives.
