You Celtic soldiers are such sissies! First, Spain the defending champion falls flat in the face to runner-up Netherlands, its former colonial charge of 5 centuries ago. Second, Europes second superpower after Spain, that is Portugal, falls flat in the face to Europes current superpower Germany, the former colonial boss of the Netherlands which doubles as the big boss of the European Union. In pop culture terms, its saying KFC is no match for Burger King (Portugals player endorsed KFC while Germanys player endorsed Burger King). In military history terms, its saying Celtic (aka Briton) soldiers are no match for Anglo-Saxonic soldiers - and in history, the Celtic versus Anglo-Saxonic battle spread to the British Islands where England was formed out of part of Celtic Cornwall and out of part of Celtic Wales, the end result of Anglo-Saxonic pummeling of weak Celtic defense. Oh, okay, Netherlands [and its former southern provinces which became modern Belgium] is Anglo-Saxonic mixed with the Celtic Belgae. And a large number of Germanys soldiers are Luxembourgic, which is again Anglo-Saxonic mixed with the Celtic Belgae [that is, in the former provinces of Luxembourg, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and the present day provinces of Baden Wurttemberg, Hesse, Saarland and Rhineland Palatinate]. But nevertheless, Anglo-Saxonic rules by proxy, in sports, economics, politics and pop culture. Show them you still have big balls, Celtic soldiers, not marshmallows! And yes, marshmallows are a Celtic invention.
