You Dont Have To Pay A Lot To Get A Lot! You really dont have - TopicsExpress

You Dont Have To Pay A Lot To Get A Lot! You really dont have to pay a lot to get a lot sometimes (note: I said sometimes). I have a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and it is a cheap lens, in fact feels cheap, but does it ever and I mean ever preform like lenses that are three and four times the cost of the EF 50mm f/1.8 II. I have made some very good Photos with this lens on my 20D and my 40D and have posted some of them in the past on this Facebook page. I mess with this 50mm lens a lot to hold off my craving for a lens I am saving up for Canon 35mm Wide-Angle Lens f.1-8 (in fact I really have to control my lust for this lens while saving up for it). I decided to do a test using the same setting except foot stop, hand held not with a tripod and test what some writers were saying that did and did not match my results in the real world that I have experienced. For a $109.00 lens (what I paid not counting shipping) this is outstanding indeed. I am able to take good pictures indoors without a flash and the lens is fast enough that any shaking does not cheat me of having sharp pictures. The first picture is the lens set at f/1.8 and note how very little edge distortion at the corners and along the edge. The second picture is the lens set at f/2.8 and look how very good is the edge sharpness at the corners and along the edges. There is no cropping or editing by me. These are as they came out of the camera (40D). Yes, you dont have to pay a lot to get a lot.
