You Know You Grew Up In Lodi When your own mother dies on the floor of the last restaurant she ever worked in Lodi. Beside the Taco Bell, my favorite place was her restaurant the Lodi Avenue Grill. She made that place a spot on the map for a while. My mother Twyla put her blood sweat and tears into that place and it was right across from my high school Liberty High. Then there was a rope swing right under the 99 bridge and Mokelumne river that I swung off and when i landed in the water I speared my foot into some branch on the river bed, and almost got stuck. Visited almost every church with my Mom. It was pretty much to me, just her and me around that town as my sister and brother were to young to galavant with us. Tokay bowl the grandmas babysat me in the nursery forever, and i used to climb the old brick wall with holes from the nursery to sneak into the arcade and bum quarters off people, and play Elevator Action, and all the other arcade games that kept changing. Grandma worked the Tokay Bowl and Richmaid Ice Cream. The taco shop on Lodi Avenue in the Mexican store, was awesome. A&W car shows on I think Thursdays or it kept changing was cool too. The Sunset Theater still played movies and I saw Men In Black there when it first came out. The Frontage roads were great, and making out in the vineyards with girlfriends under the stars was a pass time no young guy would ever forget. Umm I know I grew up in Lodi. Then I moved to Sacramento because there was suppose to be more work, and I am still trying to make ends meet up here. I should have just stayed stuck in Lodi again. This pics are of me and my Family as we grew up in Lodi.
