You all may recall that, last week, we were working to help some grandparents in getting their grandchildren back home and into a stable situation due to the arrest of the childrens parents in another state. As of now, this is what we are getting and what is needed as stated direct from the grandparents: ---Quoted Message--- I went to social services and what Ive been told is true. They will inspect our home before recommending to the state of ------ that our grandchildren get sent to us. Is there any way we could start a food drive so that our home can meet the states requirements on food availability? I did get a few clothes for the kids but could still use more. The main things now are the food, toys and furniture. We really need for our home to be ready for the children when the home inspection happens. If I have those things, there will be no more delays but people seem to want to wait until after the children are here to help with these things and we need them so that we can get the children here. We still need financial help with this as I still havent found any found furniture for the children’s rooms or any living room furniture to make the home more presentable and I’m told it is very important to have this during the home inspection, too. ---End Quoted Message--- What can we, as a community, get together to help these people out? They are asking this so that their grandchildren do not possibly end up in a foster home. These people are in need of furniture for the children (twin beds and dressers/chests for two girls ages 9 and 6 and a dresser/chest for a boy age 10. They also need toys/bicycles and clothing. All of the children’s belongings is gone to the impound lot in the state in which the parents were arrested. At present the state has turned down each attempt to gain the items as they (the state) do not want to disturb evidence. They children have lost all of their Christmas as what they had was either pawned or is still in the impound lot. In clothing the 6 year old girl is size 7/8 in shirts and pants and shorts, 10 year old girl is size 16 in girls or small women’s and the boy is size 12R in pants and 12/14 boys. The family still hasnt found furniture for the children’s rooms or any living room furniture to make the home more presentable. If you would like to help these grandparents with helping to get their grandchildren into a safe and stable home, contact us so that we can arrange a meeting or so that you can at least talk with them.
