You all will recall that the Students Union Leadership collected the sum of N70,000 from a particular Senator during one of their meetings in Ife. On Thursday July 10, Ibikunle led Great Ife Students to open the S.U.B. On getting there Ibikunle vanished; only for us to realised that it was a trap set for us to be captured by crackers. The crackers in their hundred outnumbered us and gave us a hot chase of our life. Some students were caught and were mercilessly beating up to the point of fainting by the crackers and their school identity card ceased up till now. The C.E.C. planned alongside the Action Committee to celebrate July 10 with Press Conference on OAU campus, and candle Night; Only for us to realised the next day that the Press Conference had been shifted to Osogbo. As if that was not enough, that same night Olori came to Awo around 7pm to mobilize Awoites for the candle night procession. At the beginning of the procession to the end that is from AngloMoz to SUB, neither Olori, Ibikunle nor any of the C.E.C. members took part in the July 10 celebration. Infact they disappeared into the thin air without a trace. As at now none of the C.E.C. member (s) reside on campus. Instead they were galivanting around Osogbo, Ibadan, Lagos dishing out press conferences e.g Channels Interview, STV, AIT, TVC, NUJ Osogbo etc. which is contrary to the Congressional resolution of TOTAL REVERSAL. Ibikunle is now moving with body guards that are ready to beat up any comrade that speak against his person. This also is illegal and an affront to Great Ife Unionism. The 24 hours ultimatum given to the management by Ibikunle to re- open the SUB had elapsed and up till now the SUB is still under lock and key. The C.E.C. had a meeting with the Action Committee to stage a massive protest in Ibadan July 15th. To the chagrin of the Action Committee they later realised that it had been cancelled. The painful part of it was that the president even wrote all the security outfit to deal with any group of persons or individuals trying to stage any protest. To many of us that have been frustrated, disappointed, and that have already giving up to this struggle; this is the major challenges the Action Committee are currently battling with. And this is why Great Ife, their have been no tangible results thus far. When you are fighting an internal battle led by the IBIKUNLE administration it makes the external battle led by OAU VC difficult to win. From the aforementioned facts all hope is not lost. This is the time for Great Ife Students to arise, join hand and support the Action Committee set up by the Great Ife Congress to fight these monsters to a standstill. We did it in 1999. We did it during OAU NUGA 2014. We did it at Ife- Abuja Federal highway. We did it on OAU campus and we came out victorious through it all. If LASU can do it, YES Great Ife can do it! If UNILAG without a Union can do it, YES we can! Let us not allow the microscopic few to jeopardize the future of 30,000 Great Ife Students. We must not allow them to jeopardise our future, academic years, time, energy and resources for nothing. GREAT IFE! FREE yourselves from TRAITORS! FREE yourselves from Elements of no commercial values!! FREE yourselves from INTELLECTUAL VEGETABLES and DRACONIAN DICTATORS!!! GREAT IFE SHALL BE FREE. WE SHALL OVERCOME TODAY!!!
