You and I may or may not have differing political views, but lets face it, if something doesnt change, and change soon, Zions going to be the next North Chicago. We place blame everywhere but where it should be placed, on the criminals! The ZPD try to please everyone, one side saying kick in doors, the other, be more friendly, or stop profiling. Let me remind you, a sensitive society breeds insensitive criminals. If you show criminals that there are no consequences, only more will come here. Zion currently has more Section 8 housing, and more home foreclosures per capita than ANY community in Lake County. Section 8 is needed yes, but section 8 was created to help people short term, not destroy our community over the long term. More people are on welfare today in Illinois, than are actually working. This is a problem, a problem only our State and Federal politicians can address, but in the mean time, we, the good people of Zion, need to keep it together, keep our neighborhoods safe, watch out for one another, and keep our children busy doing positive things! These crimes in Zion do not stem from a bad police department, bad local politicians, or bad citizens, they do however come from a combination of all. A police department thats reactive instead of proactive(for various reason), politicians unwilling to do everything in their power to clean up our community, citizens that do not care, low incomes, lack of parenting, and society not teaching the value of a human life..... any human life! I ask you all, please stand up in our community, volunteer at a Church, a food pantry, the Library, one of the various clubs Zion has to offer, start a neighborhood watch, etc., etc., etc. We the people need to help fix the communities problems, not pour gas on the already burning wildfire! Please, I ask that you share this on your pages. Lets get the word out. We have three choices, Better our community, live in fear hoping to get out, or run. Ill choose to stay and fight..... wont you join me?
