You are all very wonderful people. Somewhere in this world there are people who think “it’s just a dog.’ I don’t know them, thankfully. I know you people, who despite your many profound and beautiful differences, spent the day sharing thoughts of love and memories of happiness with me, reminding me why Rescue was so amazing. Instead of spending a day feeling sorry for myself, I got to laugh and cry, and had food brought to me and friends sit and keep me company either in person or over the phone because despite my terrible habit of pushing people away, they knew better than me what I needed. And it has blown my mind wide open to the magnitude of what Rescue was. He was more than a dog to me, but apparently he was more than a dog to the world around him as well. He was a force of nature—one filled with love, happiness, intuition, strength, loyalty, patience, and most importantly, wiggle-butts and rammy-heads. I feel nothing but pride in my little guy after hearing so many people remember him. He resonated with such a contagious kind of love, and thankfully those ripples will fan out beyond his passing. I can’t thank you guys enough for your love and support. I think you all had more nicknames for him than I do! He’s got a great view from above the orchard to keep an eye on everyone, thanks to my wonderful family.
