You are so right about the sordid situation with council. - TopicsExpress

You are so right about the sordid situation with council. Unfortunately I became complacent knowing that council had and still have the responsibility to maintain the rivers and other areas as well. I put my trust in these people who are and have accepted this responsibility. But alas this is where I made a very big mistake. It has been revealed time and again that the very people that I trusted and had faith in just do not care. They are quite happy to sit back and take the hard earned money from our taxes to enrich themselves and give nothing back. (I am a 75 year old Pensioner and I still have to pay income tax and all other taxes). When a person is employed to do a job and that person does not do it that person is stealing. Stealing taxpayers money is a criminal offence. Yet this is happening continuously and the powers that be are quite happy to look the other way. WHY??? When a budget is compiled it is only sensible that all the details of rivers, parks, cemeteries, roads, etc. that require funding must be taken into consideration without exception. There is no end of historical data available regarding previous budgets and good governance. SO WHY IS IT THAT THERE IS NO MONEY to clean the rivers??? Why do they budget for our rivers and then use the money elsewhere??? Why is sewage allowed to flow continuously into our rivers for months on end?? I maintain that the top people from the Department of Health and those heading all the other departments that have a mandate to ensure that my money is used for the purpose for which I pay my taxes must be held responsible. These people together with councilors who do not carry out their duties in an exemplary and efficient manner must now be held accountable. They must be named and shamed for not carrying out their duties. They have accepted the responsibility and the salary that goes with it to do so.
