You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father (Matthew 5:13-16). We were all created for impact. As discussed in Flight School, my first article here on faithoyedepo.org, we as children of ministers, are for impact, even more so. I cannot tell you how many times my father has had family (and/ or other) discussions, in which I was present, where he spoke immensely about the eagle. I can see some of your faces asking “What? The eagle?” To answer your question, “Yes, the same eagle you’re thinking of. That bird.” He talks about this wildly reputable bird in a manner my “wild” imaginations hadn’t even explored. This made me want to look more into it, because for anyone who knows my father, you know he only gives depth to things of uttermost necessity. I sought to find inspiration from this so called “bird” as Solomon, the man of great wisdom, did in his days. As children physically born of ministers, we are created to be personalities of global repute. This only further gives strength to the saying, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” This study on the characteristics of the eagle, which contributes to its great reputation, is important because as eagles (or budding eaglets) in our own right, we need to know what we are to emulate and what it is to be on the lookout for, in fellow eagles.
