You arent working hard enough for your customer. Plain and simple. Their dollar is worth more than yours and this is why. Basically at the lower end of the wage spectrum people have financial stresses and the much talked about discerning dollar, below that around 30-35% is mortgage stress with an even more calculated spend and finally we have minimum wage earners and youth who basically cannot afford to live. Here is a snapshot of a Macdonalds full time employee in Australia. Work 18 minutes to buy a big mac 1 hour and 7 minutes for a packet of cigarettes. To fill up a 2003 commodore you have to work a 7 hours day. To pay the rent on a one bedroom apartment for the week, you have to work 27 hours. And that is your working week. That’s your weeks wages spent people. So each week you can pay the rent so you have somewhere to sleep, you can buy fuel so you can drive to work, cigarettes so that you can deal with the stress of not being able to afford anything else and you’ll need to sustain yourself for the entire week with 1 hamburger.
