Being absolutely unable to distinguish the difference between a corporation and a person, 2. Arguing that there should be absolutely no limits on campaign spending, 3. That the key to democratizing electoral access is finding rich people to underwrite our campaigns too, when the rest of us run for office. The debate was in Indiana, at Bopps own alma mater, and yet the audience was often outright laughing and heckling him, he was so out of touch! But the most ridiculous and out of touch thing that Citizens Uniteds lawyer James Bopp said is Move to Amend has no legs and is going nowhere. Only someone in favor of corporate and oligarch rule over the people would come to that conclusion. Since September 2009 when we formed Move to Amend, on the eve of the infamous Supreme Court decision that made Bopp so smug, your support has grown this movement by leaps and bounds: 1. We started as 12 people in a living room and now we are 368,000 and growing thanks to your work to spread the word! 2. We have passed over 600 community resolutions calling for an amendment to overrule the Supreme Court! 3. We have collected signatures to place over 200 measures on the ballot in towns, cities and states across the country -- liberal and conservative alike -- and they have passed 100% of the time! 4. We have been part of the effort that forced Washington DC to listen and an amendment that is before the Senate THIS WEEK. It is flawed in the language but it shows that elected officials in Congress are concerned about the thunderous demand theyre getting from their constituents calling for an amendment. Ignoring us is no longer possible!
