You can safely assume that most comedians get through life by way of comedy. Not everything is funny. We just take most things in life and turn them into something funny. Im always making jokes on Facebook and Twitter. Most of the time the stuff is just funny to me. And sometimes its a survival mechanism. Yesterday, nothing was funny to me. But thats just life. For the last few years, Ive been working very closely with an investor and handle a lot of personal matters for both him and his family. Its never been just a gig or job or work colleague to me. Hes very important to me and Ive been the pit-bull to handle people when anyone tries to pull shenanigans with him or his family. Yeah, a little crazy, but it works. Yesterday morning, I got a call from the investors business partner and found out that the investor has brain cancer and its very bad. I spent a good part of yesterday crying. Then I had a dream last night that we were sitting in the office laughing because I had just figured out another crazy thing he asked me to figure out. Then this morning, he called me from the hospital. I thought he was going to ask me to do something because thats what Im there for...to support him. And he said, Nope, I just wanted to say hi and talk. He dropped a few F-bombs about the cancer, we laughed, and then he said hed talk to me later. I know just about everybody has been affected by cancer in some way or another. And every single time it hits someone, its just as horrible as the last. But Im always reminded that love and compassion are free and no matter how much we give, well never run out.
