You do have to be a subscriber to see the whole article ( Ive has to let mine lapse for a while ) but if u get the chance to subscribe its an amazing place. I do worm tests at least twice a year and in the hast 15 months have wormed my small herd of horses once. I use a chemical drench as I have lost a horse to encysted small strongyles (SES) ( back when I wormed every 6 to 8 weeks) but never with a drench that was effective against them. ( Equest gel or panacur for 5 days at a specific dose. ) Now I do and worm counts ( FECs) they are always low - from a low of zero to a high of 60 eggs per gram. These readings are not indicative of the need to drench. SES cannot be detected in a FEC so I use Equest once a year or so. If anyone subscribes to epona tv - can u give us a synopsis :-) ?
