You do not see a mans honor by seeing his bank book or his vehical - TopicsExpress

You do not see a mans honor by seeing his bank book or his vehical that he drives nor his toys in his garage. You see that mans honor like I saw today with the laying to rest of my Uncle Dave. To see the many community residents there, all with their stories of how my uncle was always there for them. To see the Hagaman Fire Department that he served for 56 years ( serving since 1958 ) give him a brothers burial and the heart warming End of Watch Radio call sent out County wide. That my friends is how you see a mans honor. The showing and returning of all the respect, help, and care that he gave his whole life by so many. My uncle was a man who knew he was rich, not with money but with love. Love from his community. Love from his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him and they were his vault of gold. The memories they have will certainly be a standard for them as they cherish the many things he made special with each and every one of them. The way his life impacted me by the love I saw him express with his grandchildren is much the same on how I love my grandchildren. The small special things, the things that will be cherished for life. That my friends is how you see a persons honor and the only way I can think of, that can show respect to that person is to honor his life by remembering how he was and to emulate the honorable, careing, loving ways he showed us all how to be. I love and already miss you Uncle Dave and I promise to be there for your family just as you were always there for me no matter what. May you rest in peace now and feel comfort knowing you taught us all well.
